• Peter and the Wolf

A delightful musical score is enacted with music and dance by our youth theatre!  After being chased back inside by his grandfather, Peter observes the dangers grandfather warned about when the wolf comes and eats the duck and threatens other creatures in the forest.  Peter returns to the forest and with the help of some hunters captures the wolf, leading him into town.

    HISTORY

In 1936, Sergei Prokofiev was commissioned by the Central Children’s Theatre in Moscow to write a new musical symphony for children. Prokofiev completed Peter and the Wolf in just four days. Since the first American recording in 1939 there have been numerous English language versions featuring a variety of narrators including Patrick Stewart, Mia Farrow, and Sting. The version used in today’s performance is narrated by Jeremy Nicholas with orchestration by the Czecho-Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra.
