• Producing Director

Nancy Barry is a graduate of Emerson College where she received a BS in Speech Communication and an MA in Theatre Education/Directing. A member of Actor’s Equity Association and the Screen Actors Guild, Ms. Barry has worn many hats – producer, director, actor, singer, casting director, teacher. In addition to her many stage roles, she has appeared in film, voiceovers, commercials, print ads and was frequently seen on the NY cabaret circuit. Ms. Barry has also appeared in numerous night club venues in NYC in her one woman act. While in NY, Ms. Barry also started directing and opened Music Theatre Artists, a theatre training program in NYC and Long Island. One special summer was spent at the New London Barn Playhouse in 1983 with Owner/Producer Norman Leger. After her summer as an intern, Ms Barry served as Casting Director at the Barn since 1985 and three years ago came to New Hampshire at the request of Mr. Leger to take care of the Barn as Artistic Managing Director at the time of his retirement until his recent passing. Coincidentally, Nancy Barry directed the first musical at the Lakes Region Summer Theatre in 1992, as Mr. Leger was paramount in launching the endeavor with partners David and Peter Ramsey, sons of his good friend, Peg Chatalier.

Favorite roles include Agnes in I Do!, I Do!, Ilona in She Loves Me, Louise Seger in Always…Patsy Cline, The Witch in Into the Woods, Mama Rose in Gypsy, the title role in Mame, Kate in Brighton Beach Memoirs, Yente in Fiddler on the Roof, Pfeni in Sisters Rosensweig, Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes, Mona in Dames at Sea, Sister Robert Anne in Nunsense, Kathy in Vanities, Lucy in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown at theatres including Bucks County Playhouse, Ozark Actors Theatre, Forestburgh Playhouse, Main Street Theatre, Cazenovia Theatre, Mt. Washington Valley Theatre Company, and the Charles Playhouse in Boston.

Just before moving to New Hampshire, Ms. Barry appeared in The Women’s Theatre revival of I’m Getting My Act Together and Taking It on the Road, for which she was nominated as Best Actress in a Musical by Peter Filichia of the Newark Star-Ledger.

When in the off-season, Nancy is active in New Hampshire theatre and offers singing lessons and more to private students.
